Why become a member?


Becoming a member of the Tyee Kennel Club offers dog enthusiasts a welcoming community where they can connect with others who share a passion for purebred dogs.


Members can take part in CKC and AIOC-sanctioned events and enjoy opportunities to participate in shows and competitions. The club fosters lifelong friendships and a deep sense of pride in responsible dog ownership and breeding.


REQUIRMENTS OF MEMBERSHIP

  • To apply for membership, you must be endorsed by two current Tyee Kennel Club members.
  • Please complete the form below and submit it for review.
  • Approved applicants are Associate Members for a period of 1 year before becoming eligible to be voted in as full members. 
  • Once your application has been approved, an annual membership fee of $15 will be due.
    Membership fees are payable annually on January 1.



Member Participation Requirement


  • All members are expected to actively participate in club activities and meetings. Meetings are held via Zoom on the first Monday of each month.
  • Club activities—including community outreach, charitable initiatives, dog shows, and events—depend on member involvement for organization, raffle tables, and event setup.
  • Members are required to participate in a minimum of two club events or meetings per year.

Types of Membership



The society shall have the following classes of membership:

a.  Regular member - voting

b.  Life member – voting

c.  Associate member – non-voting

d.  Associate Junior member – non-voting

e.  Honorary- non-voting


Eligibility for membership

Any person, eighteen years of age and older who is in good standing with the Canadian Kennel Club and who subscribes to the purposes of the society may apply for associate membership.  Youth under eighteen years of age may apply for Associate Junior membership.


Membership Year

Membership year shall be from January 1 to December 31 of each year.


Dues

Membership dues shall be payable January 1 of the membership Year.


Application for membership

Each applicant for membership shall apply on a form as approved by the Board of Directors.  That form shall provide that the applicant agrees to abide by the Constitution and By Laws of the Tyee Kennel Club and the rules of the Canadian Kennel Club.  The form shall state the name and address of the applicant and it shall carry the endorsement of two Tyee Kennel Club members.  Accompanying the application, the prospective member shall submit payment for the current membership year.

Any person accepted as an Associate Membership may apply after one year to become a Regular member.


Approval of Membership

Applicants shall be elected by the general membership.  Affirmative votes of 2/3 of the general membership present shall be required to elect an applicant.


Rejection of Membership

An applicant who has been rejected must be provided with a reason for such rejection in writing.


Termination of Membership

Any member who is suspended, debarred, expelled or deprived from the privileges of the Canadian Kennel Cub shall, without notice, be suspended from the privileges of this club for a like period

Memberships may be terminated as follows:

Resignation. Any member is good standing may resign from the society upon providing written notice to the Secretary.

b.   Lapsing. A membership will be considered as lapsed and automatically terminated if such member’s dues remain unpaid by the first Monday in March.

c.   Expulsion.  A member ship may be terminated by expulsion as provided by Section 8.4 of these by-laws.


Voting Privileges

An individual must be a member for one full year prior to being granted voting privileges.  Unpaid membership dues shall constitute denial of voting privileges. Only regular and life members are entitled to vote.
